Starting SoonRock Steady Boxing for Seniors (with or without Parkinson's disease)WellnessThis boxing-for-fitness program is for seniors over 55 as well as individuals with Parkinson's Disease. You'll participate in non-contact boxing drills that help build motor skills, balance and coordination through a variety of different exercises including punching a heavy bag, hitting the focus mitts and some glove-to-glove contact. A variety of movements, stepping, bobbing and weaving help you build focus, be attentive and get in shape. Class instructors are certified through Rock Steady Boxing of Indianapolis and the Struthers Parkinson's Center of Park Nicollet. Boxing gloves will be provided along with walkers, canes and wheelchairs to assist those that need support when standing. Wear light shoes for standing on foam wrestling mats.Summer 2026 -
Roller Skating Lessons at the Skatin' Place (Ages 5 & Up)Special InterestJoin the Skatin' Place to learn or grow your roller skating skills! Each lesson is designed to teach essential skills for progressing through the levels, all while engaging in fun activities. On the first day, we’ll assess your child’s current skills and place them in one of three levels: Level One: Focus on correct form for skating and stopping. Expect a few falls while taking a full lap. Level Two: Skating forward efficiently. A few falls during the visit are normal. Level Three: Mastering backward skating, stepovers, and the famous “Shoot-the-Duck.”Showing off might lead to a fall or two!" Arrive 10-15 minutes early to lace up and warm up. St. Cloud Crush Jr. TennisRecreationWelcome to St. Cloud Crush Jr. Tennis! This program includes three youth levels addressing skill development at each level. Levels 1-3 are introductory to beginning levels. In level one (ages 7-8) students work on athletic skills, motor skills, tennis skills, and the ability to rally with another player. Level two (ages 9-10) includes students working on athletic skills, tennis skills, rally skills, and will apply skills in a game situation when ready. In level three (ages 11 & up) the participants will rally and work on strategies including the use of forehand, backhand, volley, and serve with actual game play involved. Summer Chess Camp – Make the Right Move! (Grades 1-8)Special InterestNEW! Did you know that playing chess can help strengthen a student’s memory, improve a child’s decision-making skills, and help instill an understanding of actions and consequences? Kids who play and practice chess regularly often see increases in math skills as well as reading comprehension. Plus — it’s fun — kids love it! The camp is open to students from 1st grade to 8th grade, regardless of experience level. Chess camp will consist of lessons, chess puzzles, practice games, tournament games, blitz chess (speed chess), chess variations and a look at chess history. Campers will learn basic tactics, strategies, and concepts. Chess sets and other materials will be provided. There will also be time for some physical activity as well. Camp will conclude with a tournament and the awarding of trophies and medals. The chess camp is directed by Pat LaVone, a highly regarded Minnesota chess coach, with over 28 years of teaching experience. He has led teams to top finishes in U.S. championship events and coached Eden Prairie High School and Breck School teams to Minnesota State Scholastic Championships. In 2004, LaVone was honored as the Minnesota School Chess Association Coach of the Year.Summer 2026
