Adult & Pediatric CPR, AED, First Aid (Ages 11+)WellnessThe American Heart Association: Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED, First Aid program helps you recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac, automated external defibrillator (AED), breathing and first aid emergencies in adults, children and infants. This program will teach you the knowledge and skills needed to give immediate care to an injured or ill person and to decide whether advanced medical care is needed. Upon successful completion, you'll receive an American Heart Association: Adult and Pediatric CPR, AED, First Aid certification card that is valid for two years. The certification will be emailed within a few days after completion. Beginner Pickleball LessonsWellnessPickleball is an exciting way to socialize, build new skills, stay active, and have fun. These beginner sessions will teach you the rules, proper form, and basic strategies of the game so you can feel confident stepping onto the court. You will also learn the etiquette of open play and have the opportunity to connect with other beginners. Participants are welcome to bring their own paddles or use the paddles provided. Beginner One sessions are designed for those who are new to pickleball and have little to no prior experience. Beginner Two sessions is for players who understand the basic rules, can maintain a short rally, and are ready to continue developing their skills. About the Instructor: With a passion for teaching, Mary Kelsey taught Physical Education in the Rocori School District for 37 years. She has extensive experience in paddle sports having played in the original Women's Tennis League as well as the upper levels of Women's Racquetball. Learn to CurlWellnessNEW! Whether you've only watched curling from the couch or have some previous experience on the ice, Learn to Curl is your chance discover this unique Olympic sport! You'll learn the rules, safety, and etiquette, while practice curling technique and strategy. By the end of class, you'll know what the house, hack, skip, and hog lines are!All curling equipment is provided, including brooms, stones, and grippers. Please bring a pair of clean, rubber-soled shoes to change into before going on the ice, and dress in comfortable, stretchy layers. Rock Steady Boxing for Seniors (with or without Parkinson's disease)WellnessThis boxing-for-fitness program is for seniors over 55 as well as individuals with Parkinson's Disease. You'll participate in non-contact boxing drills that help build motor skills, balance and coordination through a variety of different exercises including punching a heavy bag, hitting the focus mitts and some glove-to-glove contact. A variety of movements, stepping, bobbing and weaving help you build focus, be attentive and get in shape. Class instructors are certified through Rock Steady Boxing of Indianapolis and the Struthers Parkinson's Center of Park Nicollet.
